María, Belén y Jasmine

Ayer me acabe mí sexto semana de escuela. Tenía muy suerte porque los dos profesoras de mí clases privadas son fenomenal y hubimos sido amigas buenas, se llaman María y Belén. En la escuela son estudiantes de muchas países. Hace seis semanas tuve in mí clases alemanas, austriacos, australianos, inglesas, francesas y suecos. Esta chica Jasmine es de Lucerna, Suiza y estuvimos juntos desde el comienzo.

Yesterday I finished my sixth week at school. I have been very lucky to have two phenomenal teachers for my private classes who I would now call good friends, Maria and Belen.

In the school there are students from many countries. In the six weeks of my classes I have had Germans, Austrians, Australians, English, French and Swiss classmates. The girl above Jasmine and I have been together since the beginning. Jasmine is from a town just outside of Lucerne, Switzerland.

Puerta de Independencia y Parque Retiro

Esta monumento histórico es solo pasos de mi esquela. Esta pelicula es de esta mañana y podría darte una vista de el monumento impresionante y el área rodear. Un gran parque Retiro esta afrente la puerta, es bonito, espacioso y histórico.

This historical monument is only steps away from my school. The movie is from yesterday morning and will provide you a view of the impressive monument and its surroundings. Retiro Park sits in front of the Puerta and is beautiful, spacious and historic.

T4 -Aeropuerto Barajas // T4 - Barajas Airport

Para todos me conoció, sabia me amo las aviones y los aeropuertos. La ultima fin de semana coge el metro a visitar el nuevo terminal de aeropuerto barajas. No lo defraudar! La arquitectura es fabuloso y tan moderno. Es un gran terminal para Iberia y las línea aireas de la alcanza "One World".

For all who know me, you know that I love airplanes and airports. Last weekend I took the metro to visit the new terminal 4 at Barajas Airport. It did not disappoint! The architecture is stunning and quite modern. It is a huge terminal for Iberia and the airlines of the Oneworld alliance.

La chirmoya // The Cherimoya

Esta fruta es originalmente la chirimoya" es de Ecuador y Perú. Tan popular en España, aparece (de yo) verde con una paterna "cubierto con paja" o casi un cerebro verde. El interior es blanco, y la carne es muy suave y dulce. Los germanes son negro y brillante, casi como que los germanes de sandia. El escritor Mark Twain le dijo "La fruta mas deliciosa sabdo de hombre" y estoy de acuerdo!

El el foto abajo es mi vaso nuevo amarillo plástico , que genial, no?

This fruit called the Cherimoya is originally from Ecuador and Peru. Quite popular in Spain, it appears green with a pattern like a thatched roof or a green brain. The inside is white and the meat is very soft and sweet. The seeds are back, shiny almost like watermelon seeds. Mark Twain called the cherimoya "the most delicious fruit known to men." and I agree!

Esta tarde me desperté con un gran orgullo en mi pías y le capacidad era cambiar. Actualmente la razonamiento de nuestro fundadores aun permanezco verdadero.

Anoche mire los resultados entre le noche. Las elecciones EE.UU era un gran evento en España es. Los dos canales tuvieron cobertura directo en Madrid, Chicago, Phoenix, Washington y Nueva York. Puede a ver mis imágenes abajo la historia en TV Española.

This afternoon I woke up with great pride in my country and its ability to change. The reasoning of our founders still hold true today.

Last night I watched the results through the entire night. The US elections here in Spain are a big deal. Two channels had live coverage wiht reporters in Madird, Chicago, Phoenix, Washington and New York. You can the story below my poor images from Spanish.

Segovia

El sábado pasado tuvo un excursión a Segovia, un pueblo viejo, norte de Madrid casi 100 km. Segovia fue colocado mas que 2000 anos, hasta el tiempo de los Romanos. De hecho construyeron un grandisimo aquaducto que sobreviviendo hoy. Después han venido los visogrados, arabes, judíos y claro que si los católicos. Actualmente es muy bonito y tuvo mucho catedrales viejas, un gran castil y restaurantes que han servido la especialidad el cochinillo, un cerdo de teta cocinando al horno - Que Rico!!

Last Saturday took a journey to Segovia, an old town north of Madrid about 65 miles. Segiovia was settled more than 200 years ago by the Romans. In fact they built a huge aqueduct that survives today. After came visograds, muslims, jews and of course catholics. Nowadays it is beautiful and has many old cathedrals, a great castle and restaurants that serve baby suckling pig pig roasted in an oven. Delicious!

Dar un paseo acerca mi apartamento \\ Taking a walk close to my apartment

Anteayer di un paseo por los áreas y barrios sur de mi apartamento. Hay en la plaza Santa Ana – dos cuadras del principio del paseo hay una estatua de Federico García Lorca. El fue un gran poeta y dramaturgo del siglo XX. Asesinato por gobierno de Franco en el la guerra civil de España en 1936 por su afinidad al Frente Popular y por ser abiertamente homosexual.

The day before yesterday I took a walk in the areas and neighborhoods south of apartment. In the plaza Santa Ana, a few blocks from the start of the walk, is a statue of Federico Garcia Lorca. He was a a poet and playwright from the 20th centrury. Assassinated by the Franco's government during the Spanish Civil War in 1936, for his afinity to the group "Popular Front" as well as being openly Gay.

En un cuadro mas el barrio cambió rápidamente. La piel de la población aqui es mas negro y marón de blanco, típico de Madrid. La gente aqui vinieron a España de África, Turquía y el Medio Este. Por mas que cinco siglos, Muchas veces Lavapies fue la primera lugar para vivir de los inmigrantes en Espana. Muchas familias judíos vivieron en Lavapies hasta el expulsión de España en 1492 En la siguiente foto es un edificio antiguo se llama Escuela Pies.

In the next block there is a neighborhood called Lavapies. The skin of the population here is more black or brown than typical in Madrid. The people here came to Spain from Africa, Turkey and the Middle East. Often Lavapies is the first place immigrants will live in Spain. Many Jews lived in Lavapies prior to their expulsion from Spain in 1492. The next photo is of an old building called Lavapies School.

España tiene más de 3.500 kilómetros de costa, mas que todos los otros países en Europa Continental. Ha puesto ver la variedad y cantidad del pescados y los mariscos. Próxima fui en un mercado publico con muchas tiendas privadas típico de mercados en cada barrio. En ese foto muchas tipos de pescado pequeño se vendieron.

Spain has more than 2174 miles of coastline, more than all of the other countries in continental Europe. You are able to appreciate the variety and quanity of fish and seafood at its markets. Next I visited a public market with many private owner-operators, typical of of the markets in each neighborhood. In this photo there are many types of small fish for sale.

Llegué a otro barrio se llame Embajadores, es un barrio del gente de clase media y mucho tiendas son privadas y interesante. Hay un panadería se llama, “La Sorianita” – a mi me gustó la marca vieja simpática y todo de las pasteles y pan aparecen muy fresca y deliciosa.

I arrived at another neighborhood called Embajadores, one that is populated by the middle class and contains many private and interestign businesses. Here is a bakery called "La Sorianita" (Sorian is another region in Spain in Castille-La Mancha) - I liked the logo which was old-fashioned and friendly and all of the cakes and breads appeared fresh

Cerca de la panadería hay una farmacia muy típico de España. Una abuela se sentó dormir a frente de la tienda. La pobrecita pareció que su brazo se rompió. .

Close to the bakery there was a pharmacy typical to Spain. A old lady was sleeping asleep in the front. The poor thing appeared to have a broken arm.

Para mi cena anoche, compré cebolletas, pimientas amarillas y ciruelas para postre.
For my dinner that night, I purchased spring onions, yellow peppers and plums for desert.

La ultima barrio se llama “Delicias’ y en ese barrio vi una clínica publica de Madrid, Salud Madrid. En España toda la gente tienen seguros de salud del gobierno – incluidos las inmigrantes sin dinero. Estoy de acuerdo con Barack Obama y pensamos seguros de salud es un derecho y espero cambio en EE.UU en los meses y años afrente.

The last neighborhood was called "Delicias" and here was a public clinic for Health Madrid" In Spain all people have health care including immigrants with no money. I agree with Barack Obama and believe that health care is a right and hope change happens in the months and years ahead of us in the USA.

La profesora y sobrinita / The profesor and the grand niece

En mi primera semana a elemadrid (mi escuela), tuve las lecciones privadas con Belen. Esta semana tiene un profesora nueva se llama María. Ambos tienen habilidades excelente de escucha y son muy interesantes para charlar y presentar las temas gramática, conversación, cultura de España y Madrid. Ellas les aventajan – específicamente relacionado a mis retos de pensando y hablando en español.

También tengo dos mas profesoras se llaman Lola y Conchita. Ellas son totalidad asombrosas. Puedo a hablar sobre ellas en mi blog muy pronto!

Una cosa mas interesante de Belen que ella aparecer muy similar de la hija de mi sobrina Jenny - se llama Naomi. Que piensas?

In my first week at elemadrid (my school) I had my private lessons with Belen. This week I have another professor named Maria. Both have excellent capabilities at listening, and are very interesting for chatting and presenting topics like grammar, conversation and the culture of Spain and Madrid. They excel specially in areas where I am challenged in thinking and speaking in Spanish.

I have two other professors, Lola and Conchita who are both totally amazing. I will speak about them in my blog very soon!

One thing very interesting is that Belen appears very similar to the daughter of my niece Jenny (my great niece) – Naomi. What do you think?

El escurreplatos // The dishdraining closet

En España tuvieron un invención increíble no tenemos en EE.UU. Ese es un secador para los platos en un armario arriba de la silla, se llama "el escurreplatos". Después lavarse los platos, poseyó los en la bandeja, el agua de los platos, vasos y tazo cayó abajo entre de la silla.

Cuando el puerto están cerrado, aparece como de un barqueño normal.

In Spain they have an incredible invention that we don't have in the United States. It is a dryer for dishes, in a closet above the sink, called "el esscureplatos". After washing the dishes, you place then on the tray and the water from the plates, cups and glaesses falls in the sink.

When the door is closed it appears just like a normal cabinet.

El Metro que quiesiran tener todos \\ The Metro that evreyone had wanted to have ..

Esta es una campaña de publicidad del Metro de Madrid, está dentro del metro. Las imágenes son un gran "mash-up"(mezcla-fotomontaje) -- La Esfinge o La Estatua de la Libertad mirando en entrada de una estación con ese proclamación "El Metro que todos quisieran tener, vive en Madrid."

De acuerdo porque la sistema increíble, barato, fácil a usar y siempre una estación dentro un paseo de cinco minutos.

This is an ad campaign for the Madrid Metro within the Madrid Metro. It is very provocative because the personification of The Sphinx and the The Statue of Liberty. They are looking into an entrance to a Metro station proclaiming "The Metro that evreyone had wanted to have, lives in Madrid".

I agree because it is an incredible system, cheap, easy to use, and always a station within a five minute walk.

El menú del día // Today's menu

Esta noche he cocinado mi primero cenar en mi apartamento. El menú comenzado con ensalada de espinacas con guisantes, cebolletas, aceitunas, tomate y pimiento con una salsa de vinagre de la casa. Después morcilla (salchichas de sangre de Asturias) con cebolla y ajo! A mi me gusta todo.

Asturias esta en norte de España y bien conocido por alimentos simples y tradicionales.

This evening I cooked my first dinner in my apartment. The menu started with spinach salad with peas, spring onions, olives, tomato and red pepper. After Morcilla (blood sausage from Asturias) with onion and garlic. Asturias is in the north part of Spain and it is known for its traditional, simple food products.

Sevilla en Madrid // Seville in Madrid

Sevilla es la cuidad principal de Andalucia (en el sur de España). Cuando decido tomar el metro a mi escuela - entrar en la estación de Sevilla!

Seville is the most important city in Andalusia (in the south of Spain). When I decide to take the metro to school, I enter the metro system at the Seville station!

Esta foto es de la calle de mi apartamento. El calle se llama "Príncipe". La calle esta en el barrio Centro. Hay muchos bares, restaurantes, tiendas y mucho gente mirando las planas que nunca!

My friends & family,
In six days I will be off to Spain for two months of language and cultural study. I am excited about what the future will bring - in Spain and beyond. \\ So that you can experience this journey alongside me, I will record my adventures, observations and challenges through this blog. Also I figure it will be great practice for me to write in both English and Spanish. \\ The name of the blog is "La mala educación de Jay" to honor Pedro Almodovar, my favorite film director.
